What is the mission of Spanish Lookout EMMC?

Encourage · Equip · Send

§ 01Encourage

John 13:34–35 · Acts 2:42–47 · Romans 1:16 · Hebrews 10:23–25

We share the Bible in ways that encourage people to put their trust in Jesus Christ. At the same time, we encourage and build up the church through preaching and teaching, as well as caring for and loving one another.

Our hope is that fellow Christians will be encouraged when we come together in worship, fellowship, and celebration. It is important to us that we do this in appropriate ways for all ages and with sensitivity to the English and Low German languages.

§ 02Equip

Matthew 28:18–20 · Luke 24:13–29 · Ephesians 4:11–16 · 2 Timothy 3:16–17

We understand that the Bible is useful for teaching, correcting, and training in the ways of God. We believe that the Bible tells the unified story of God's redemption through Jesus Christ, and we will equip people to understand how the Bible tells that story.

We take seriously the challenge to equip Christians for works of service. This means we preach from God's Word, and we encourage practices that will grow a relationship with Christ. We give opportunities to serve, which we believe gives strength to a relationship with Christ and, more specifically, his mission.

§ 03Send

Matthew 4:18–22 · Acts 1:8 · 2 Corinthians 5:14–20 · 1 Peter 3:15 · 1 John 3:16–18

We believe that God has given us a responsibility to carry the good news of Jesus Christ with us, into the world. Our goal is to send all Christians into their work and personal relationships to build the kingdom of God right where they're at.

Christ's love is a love to be shared. We encourage all to live out their faith and look beyond themselves to the needs of others. As Jesus sent the disciples to fish for people close by and those far away, His gospel sends us out into Spanish Lookout, Low German communities, and people of other tongues, tribes, and nations.

The direction of the missionEncouraging, equipping, and sending is what following Jesus is about.

Matthew 5:14–16 · Romans 12:1–8 · 1 Corinthians 12

Our understanding is that to follow Jesus is to encourage and equip and send others. In many ways, encouraging, equipping, and sending is what following Jesus is all about.

An ongoing mission that each Christian, new and old, enters into — one that grows the kingdom of God and multiplies its influence in the world.
